IRMAA for couples: does each spouse need to file?
By Elder PaperworkUpdated
Short answer
Yes. A request applies only to the person who makes it.
If both spouses are on Medicare and both pay IRMAA, each one contacts Social Security.
This holds even when the same life-changing event affects you both.
